Workshop 3: Strategies for Building the Quality of Research in ASEAN Universities and Strengthening Higher Education Research Partnerships with Australia
TARGET AUDIENCE
ASEAN and Australian university leaders and researchers engaged in or keen to develop engagement in post graduate research with regional partners.
RATIONALE
Australian campuses and partnerships in ASEAN provide a platform for deeper post graduate research engagement. Regional peak bodies such as the ASEAN University Network (AUN) are tasked with addressing the issues around post graduate research gaps and sector improvement.
In early September prior to AAED 2019 a delegation from AUN visited a number of Australian universities. The delegation also met with Universities Australia, the Australian Research Council (ARC) and the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).The role of the Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) framework across the full spectrum of research activity in Australian higher education institutions was a focus of discussion. This visit was coordinated by ASEAN Focus Group the convener of AAED.
This workshop at AAED 2019 provides an opportunity for sector participants to focus on the key issues impacting closer research partnerships and discuss how best to develop actions that can help address gaps in research quality.
